1920 x 1080 native resolution not displaying HD?

Hello, i recently bought a Samsung LCD HDTV Monitor that has full 1080P HD. I am trying to hook it up to my laptop which is running Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20GHZ, and is running the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics card. When i hook the laptop up to my new TV with an HDMI cord and set it to its native 1920 x 1080 resolution, the picture does not even fit the screen and is no where near HD. Im not sure what I have to do in order to fully optimize my HD on this laptop/tv combo. From my TV settings instead of leaving it at 16:9 picture size I put it to screen fit so the screen fits fine but the picture quality is complete garbage. Any help of solutions would be great, thanks.
