Is the 10 yr long term spousal support considered if the divorce was filed prior to the 10yr date?

The divorce was filed 9 months prior to our 10 year anniversary. In asking for long term spousal support is the 10 year mark considered just because the divorce proceedings are taking a long time and have now gone past the 10 yr date? Or is the date of the divorce filing the cut off date?
