Euthanization - Why do we think we have to live through the most traumatic things, dieing long painful deaths?

I agree. I used to deliver food to terminal pt's on the nursing home wards at my work. I saw a man with brain cancer and it must have been horrible. I would walk in every day and it would smell very bad, as if his brain tissue was already rotting in his skull. The last night he was alive I delivered his food and the smell was even more horrible, but this time the flies were hovering his head. He just sat there in a daze staring at the wall. The next day he was dead. He lived that way for probably a month and a half and I kept thinking that I would rather die than go through that. I felt very sad for him and now fully support euthenasia. Those fundamental religious wacko's who do not support it need to take a trip to a nursing home where terminal patients are.
